Brits lose cricket and email

Vital emails are being lost in Great Britain. A survey carried out by Legato Systems found that British companies are not coping with the increasing levels of email.

There is a mature attitude to email in Britain, with 69 per cent of respondents stating that they believe email is an acceptable and legally binding form of written confirmation for business processes; these included approvals or purchase conformations, the survey said. Yet, despite its elevated role, the business community in Britain said it was still losing email. 38 per cent of respondents said they had lost email due to a technical problem.

Email traffic has doubled in the past two years according to 46 per cent of survey respondents and 85 per cent believe they are receiving upwards of 100 emails a day. The increase in traffic has not brought about an increase in capacity for 31 per cent of respondents, who said they were not able to get all of their email due to a lack of capacity.
