Sacked For Email Abuse
Sacked For Email Abuse
April 10th, 2006: Former Morgan Stanley Executive Arthur Reil is claming that he was sacked for doing his own job. He was the company's technology officer.
The Morgan Stanley saga keeps on rolling. The latest chapter involves a former technology officer who - he states in this affidavit against for unfair dismissal - was tasked with monitoring staff email for dubious content.
Riel was fired in September for allegedly accessing e-mails without the authorization of Morgan Stanley's legal or compliance departments. His (US$30-million) claim, however, is that he was dismissed for exposing emails sent between his manager, Moira Kilcoyne and another Morgan Stanley employee, Rora Tanaka.
The emails were from businesslike containing anatomical references to the partner of one of the two women.
