Secured Signing Adds eIDAS Qualified Signatures

Electronic signatures with the same legal standing as a handwritten signature under EU and UK law are now available in the Secured Signing platform. They sit alongside its existing signing and remote notarisation tools.

Secured Signing has added support for Qualified Electronic Signatures (QES). These are the highest legal standard for electronic signing under the EU's eIDAS regulation and equivalent UK rules.

The company says the addition enables organisations across Europe and the UK to execute legally robust, cross-border transactions. It describes this as the highest available level of trust, security and compliance.

QES carries strict requirements. A signature must be uniquely linked to an identifiable signer who retains sole control of their signing data.

It must be created using a certified qualified signature creation device, and backed by a qualified certificate. That certificate is issued by a qualified trust service provider after rigorous identity verification.

The result is a signature that is legally non-repudiable, meaning the signer cannot later dispute that they signed. Secured Signing has partnered with ZealID to issue the qualified signatures.

One workflow

QES support builds on Secured Signing's existing digital signature and remote notarisation capability. Qualified signing and remote online notarisation can now run through the same connected workflow.

Secured Signing says this lets organisations manage every signing scenario, from advanced electronic signatures to QES, from one platform. It removes the need to switch vendors, systems or workflows.

The company argues this simplifies compliance and governance and reduces cost. Organisations can replace separate QES products and vendor relationships with a single provider.

Target use cases are those where non-repudiation and strict legal compliance are mandatory. They include legal, finance and corporate HR functions, cross-border EU agreements and government and enterprise transactions requiring maximum legal assurance.

Real estate and other regulated industries are also named. Secured Signing says the aim is to help teams close high-value agreements faster, with fewer handoffs.

"As regulatory requirements continue to evolve, organisations need solutions that combine simplicity, security, and legal certainty," said Mike Eyal, CEO and founder of Secured Signing.

"By bringing Qualified Electronic Signatures directly into our platform, we are enabling businesses to complete high-value and cross-border transactions with confidence, knowing they have access to the highest standard of electronic signing recognised under EU and UK law."

Secured Signing's cloud platform combines electronic signatures, QES, remote online notarisation, in-person electronic notarisation and audio-video signing.

The company says the platform uses real-time identity verification, biometric authentication and deepfake detection to verify signers. It provides secure audit records designed for regulated and high-trust environments.
