New email management features for Google Apps

Google Apps administrators can now access and configure improved email compliance footers, approved/blocked sender lists and file attachment policies for Gmail, directly from the control panel.

Previously, Google Apps customers used Google Message Security, powered by Postini, to provide these capabilities. These settings can also be configured at the organisational unit level for fine grained policies.

Log Analyzer, Message Header Analyzer and other Support tools are also now available to Google Apps administrators.

The Log Analyzer evaluates logs from a variety of our migration/sync tools and gives guidance on resolving most issues visible in the logs.

The Message Header Analyzer extracts delivery and route information (server hops, message delays) from message headers and outputs the results in a less technical format so that administrators can quickly identify where an issue might have arisen and which system is responsible.

A number of improvements have been made to the latest version of the Gmail offline Chrome app:

- the ability to choose whether you want to synchronize 7, 14 or 31 days worth of mail;
- improved attachments: All attachments are now downloaded and available for offline use;
- keyboard shortcuts support: If you have keyboard shortcuts enabled in Gmail, your setting will transfer over to the Gmail offline app;
- Messages and attachments now download at a faster rate and some bugs have been fixed.
