NetIQ creates agile email security

NetIQ has released new software to make it easier to control wanted and unwanted emails, shut out spam and viruses and locate missing emails, to improve IT security through comprehensive message analysis.

The new Marshall Content Security solutions are aimed at protecting company mail systems and reducing security exposures, as well as giving organisations the ability to meet legal and industry compliance standards such as HIPAA.

NetIQ believes that the solutions can minimise network downtime, protect company assets from loss or misuse and reduce security exposure due to unwanted email or dangerous downloads.

Wridgways is one of Australia's largest removals and relocations companies with branches throughout Australia. It has been using NetIQ's Security Management Suite to reduce spam and increase security of emails coming into the network.

David Gault, the IT manager with Wridgways, said: "With more than 50,000 emails per month, email is a critical business tool for Wridgways. Today NetIQ MailMarshal filters out 17 percent of emails as unwanted and protects us from spam, viruses and phishing hoaxes thus increasing employee efficiency and decreasing traffic on the network.

"With NetIQ MailMarshal SMTP relay I can monitor what's happening, locate missing emails and when emails don't arrive where they should I can identify the problem.

The key components of the NetIQ Security Management Suite at NetIQ's Marshall Content Security solutions include NetIQ MailMarshal SMTP.6.0, NetIQ MailMarshal 5.1 for Exchange and NetIQ WebMarshal 3.5.

The new features to NetIQ MailMarshal SMTP 6.0 include spam management, spam classifications, native integration with Active Directory and Web-console.

Spam management accommodates the unique preferences of thousands of individual users, whilst also sending a scheduled email summary report of blocked emails. Blocked email can be accessed via a Web management console.

Spam classifications categories spam according to whether it is highly offensive spam, suspect spam or questionable spam.

Native integration with Active Directory can select groups with any recent changes reflected immediately.

The Web-console allows organisations to administer the entire NetIQ MailMarshal environment locally or remotely.
