Sophos and Sun Microsystems strike landmark agreement

In a global first for both companies, Sun Microsystems and Sophos, a world leader in antivirus, spyware and spam protection software have struck a landmark development and reseller agreement.

Sophos will now be supporting the Solaris 10 operating system and making use of the platform in its research and development infrastructure. In return, Sun is now an accredited Sophos Reseller Partner who will be offering Sophos products to its customers."The new blanket reseller agreement -- which enables Sun to sell all of our products -- is an important milestone for Sophos both in Australia and globally. We've always collaborated well in the past as a Sun ISV partner, but with Sun now reselling our software we have an opportunity to work closer than ever before." said Rob Forsyth, Sophos' Managing Director for Australia and New Zealand. "Solaris is one of the platforms of choice for our customers worldwide," "New tools available in Solaris 10, such as DTrace or Dynamic Tracer, give us technical insights which translate directly into unique benefits for our customers." Sophos has embraced their new agreement by making use of new functionality in Solaris 10 to significantly reduce time to market for its products as well as deploying a Sun Fire V100 server for their web operations. Sophos' successful local development program with Sun has made the wide-ranging agreement possible. "Sophos' solutions combined with Sun Microsystems platform offer the highest levels of security protection for enterprise customers. We're very pleased to see Sophos joining 30 other ANZ ISVs who moved their solutions to Solaris 10 in the past 6 months, in addition to striking this global reseller agreement in Australia," said Michael May, National Sales Director for Sun Microsystems Australia.Sun will be reselling Sophos products such as: PureMessage, Sophos Anti-Virus and Sophos Anti-Virus Interface.Related Article:
