PowerControls adds SharePoint 2010 support

Kroll Ontrack has announced the availability of Ontrack PowerControls version 6.1 with support for SharePoint Server 2010, giving users the ability to open and read SharePoint 2010 data and connect to SharePoint 2010 targets. From recovery and restoration to migration and consolidation, Ontrack PowerControls 6.1 provides complete support for the SharePoint Server 2007 and 2010 environment, in addition to complete support for Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5, 2000, 2003, 2007 and 2010.

“As SharePoint Server 2010 adoption continues to grow in Australia and New Zealand, Kroll Ontrack is committed to keeping its solution up-to-date to ensure that users are equipped to combat human error, minimise risk, maximise IT performance and save costs in their organisation,” said Adrian Briscoe, general manager, Asia Pacific, Kroll Ontrack.

“The robust search, recovery, restoration, migration and consolidation functionality administrators have come to know and expect from Ontrack PowerControls is now possible with SharePoint Server 2010 data. The time and hardware costs saved through utilising Ontrack PowerControls to perform these functions within the SharePoint environment could potentially yield a ROI well beyond the cost of the tool itself.”

As businesses begin to migrate some or all of their data to SharePoint 2010, this functionality is critical to managing both systems simultaneously.

With Ontrack PowerControls 6.1, users are also able to search their SharePoint environment for Microsoft Office 2007 and Office 2010 file extensions, .doc and .docx, and view the files in the search field. As businesses upgrade their working environments to include new versions of Microsoft Office, the ability to search across multiple file formats will be key to accessing and restoring all of their files.
