Alleged Criminal Free Due to Document Error

February 8, 2006: Due to what the Department of Corrective Services is calling a “foul up with the paperwork”, an alleged armed robber has walked free despite Burwood local court ruling that he was to be remanded in custody.

As reported in The Sydney Morning Herald today, Abdul Baghdadi was released from court last Friday instead of being transferred to his cell due to an administrative error. Corrective Services offices had apparently been given documents by court officials that said Baghdadi had no outstanding matters.

The incident highlights what can happen when Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) isn’t employed correctly.

A warrant has been issued for Baghdadi’s arrest, and large contingent of police including the dog squad have been searching for him in Beverly Hills.

IDM is awaiting comment from the Deapartment of Corrective Servcices
