TechnologyOne ECM looks to Evolve
February 5, 2009: TechnologyOne will lay out an aggressive challenge for market share in Enterprise Content Management (ECM)at its biennial user conference, Evolve 2009, being held in Brisbane from February 24-27.
General Manager of TechnologyOne ECM, Roger Manu, will preview the future of the TechnologyOne Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solution. Previously known as DataWorks, it was acquired in November 2007 when TechnologyOne bought Australia's Avand.
“Our goal is to develop a solution that will provide rapid access to data and content,” said Manu.
“We are also looking to target state and federal government and a number of important industry verticals with solutions that provide business process automation and workflow.”
“To a greater or lesser extent, all organisations are now “document centric”. Documents are mission critical and are of high strategic importance to the success of any enterprise. TechnologyOne ECM’s document and records management capabilities are very strong and to put it simply, will be the best in its class within the next 2-3 years.”TechnologyOne is broadening the market for its enterprise applications from the local government sector, where it has been traditionally strong, into the State and Federal government sector.
Attendees at the Evolve event in Brisbane will be drawn from more than 170 customers across industry sectors such as local and state government, federal government, healthcare, education, and financial services. There will be a number of different conference streams looking at specific enterprise applications, Business Intelligence and ECM.Illustrating its cross-industry applicability, the Queensland Government’s Department of the Premier and Cabinet has signed up for a workflow solution, eMinisterials, based on the TechnologyOne ECM.
“The TechnologyOne ECM team is working on producing new functionality for customers, with the aim to increase its presence in current markets and, in the future, enter into new markets,” said Manu.
“Compliance and out of the box business process automation for specific industry sectors are of significant interest. Our customers want to leverage off the significant intellectual capital we have across our experienced consulting and services team.”In the Web 2.0 world, the challenge for an ECM solution is to provide employees with instant access to information and immediate collaboration.
“There have been a variety of collaboration tools in place for some time that allow content to be shared, but it's now becoming more realtime,” said Manu. “Organisations are now more geographically diverse and can locate expertise located anywhere in the world. The key is providing the capacity for content to be shared instantly to allow for successful collaboration, whether that is via some form of social networking or instant messaging.
“Enterprise content management solutions are becoming increasingly important for organisations as they face an increase in the reliance on access to the right information for the right people at the right time. Combined with smart workflow and business process automation, a true ECM solution does more than document and records management; it helps to improve business efficiency through the automation of business processes. It also assists in the reduction of operational risk by ensuring these processes are followed. The true value of an enterprise content management solution is in its usability across an entire organisation and all types of organisational content, and the efficiency this brings.”TechnologyOne Executive Chairman Adrian Di Marco said an international IT event such as Evolve provided business leaders with an opportunity to hear from experts about hot industry topics including emerging IT requirements rising from risk and sustainability issues, the impact of the global economic downturn, cloud computing and the latest developments in mobility solutions.
“Evolve will attract delegates from across the public and private sectors from government, education, utilities, financial services, health & community, managed services and general commercial industries,” Di Marco said.
“We will have customers coming from Australia, New Zealand, the wider Asia-Pacific region and the United Kingdom and the conference will give us a chance to prove Queensland really is the Smart State.”
“The conference will provide customers with stimulating opportunities to better understand the benefits of implementing a TechnologyOne solution and explore how innovative business solutions can promote long-term, profitable growth,” he said.Sessions will include: technology roadmaps, highlighting plans for the future and how businesses can benefit; tips and tricks from the developers of TechnologyOne’s suite of enterprise software solutions; plus advice on how businesses can streamline and enhance organisational effectiveness.Other industry issues to be discussed include how IT can help businesses survive and even thrive during these tough economic times and how IT managers can drive environmentally friendly initiatives.
Evolve runs from 24 February 2009 to 27 February 2009.
