CBA archives moving house
The Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) will today undertake an extensive project involving relocation of its archives. Originally housed in the building at the corner of Pitt Street and Martin Place in Sydney, the archives will be shifted from their current location on Elizabeth and Foveaux Streets in the central business district (CBD), to new state-of-the-art premises in Liverpool and Castlereagh Street.
The Commonwealth Bank's merger with State/Rural Bank and Colonial has created a need for a more expansive facility, with the archives from each of each bank being consolidated with the CBA's original archives.
The CBA anticipates a period of three weeks for complete relocation of all its archives. The scope of the project may entail some delays in enquiries.
Data facilities aren't the only facet of the CBA to change. Restructuring that took place last year has meant a few titular and role changes within the organisation. The Information Management and Archives section of the bank will now be overseen by an Information Manager, as opposed to the previous position of Archivist. Assuming the role of Information Manager is Chris Hurley, who comes from National Archives of New Zealand. Some of the roles will be records management, archives and knowledge management, with an emphasis on electronic records, which has resulted in additional appointments to the section.
Vivienne Larking has been appointed Archivist, and has previously worked with Marrickville Council.
The newly created position of Corporate Records Manager will be filled by Taline Babikian.
