Australian document and content management solution provider Tower Software's TRIM electronic document and records management system (EDRMS) has secured the vendor two major government contracts in Canada.
The TRIM system has been chosen as the standard EDRMS for the Government of British Columbia (BC) and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.
The implementation of the EDRMS toolset - which is widely deployed in governments around Australia – will enable the BC and Newfoundland Governments to manage their electronic and physical documents in a more consistent and secure manner, in turn reducing the threat of litigation and providing a necessary infrastructure for e-government.
EDS Canada will provide Tower Software’s TRIM system for deployment across government (30,000 desktops) in BC.
Ministries that have a requirement either to implement new document and/or records management software or to migrate from existing software to a new system are to use the new standard.
Pat Richardson, director Canada Tower Software, said, "This project has provided us with an enormous understanding of not only the needs of the BC Government but of provincial government in Canada. We look forward to contributing to the aims of the government and EDS in their vision to implement an effective and leading edge e-Government framework.
Tower also recently opened an office in Toronto to ensure that it is able to support its new customers and partners.
Meanwhile, Cliff Sink, president, Tower Software North America, said of the Newfoundland and Labrador deal: "This selection of TRIM Context by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador for their government standard confirms once again their commitment to our product and reinforces the message that our technology provides a secure, cost-effective solution for organisations of any size that need a tool to manage their corporate information."
