Pogo Releases Open Source NAS Device

March 26, 2007: Linux server provider Pogo Linux has just released its latest network attached storage (NAS) device, calling it the most versatile and advanced Linux-based device to date.

The company says its StorageDirector 3000 provides enterprise-class features at a significant price advantage and is suitable for SMBs and enterprise customers alike.

"Because the StorageDirector 3000 series takes a simple, efficient approach to storage management, it allows us to meet the growing data needs of our small and mid-sised customers at a very compelling price point,” said Erik Logan, CTO of Pogo Linux. "Our open architecture means Pogo Linux can significantly reduce costs, yet still provide a high-end feature set that answers the requests of our core customer - the SMB with enterprise aspirations.”

The company claims that a single StorageDirector 3000 device enables the addition of both file and high-performance SAN storage to their network. It says it provides both block and file storage simultaneously in single device to simplify backup and disaster recovery.

Pogo says that the StorageDirector 3000 offers a solid turnkey solution for businesses needing to add to or consolidate their networked storage, and brings ease-of-management, flexibility and interoperability in at a price uncommon to the SMB marketplace.
