EMC unveils new $3m data solutions centre

Storage vendor EMC has added to its worldwide network of solutions centres with the opening of a new $3 million dollar facility in North Sydney.

The centre will be used to showcase EMC's hardware, software and services offerings to existing and potential customers, as well as partners.

Technologies from a number of EMC's partners, including Microsoft, Dell, Cisco and Oracle, will also be on display at the centre.

Steve Redman, managing director of EMC Australia and New Zealand, said the creation of the Australian centre was a reflection of the move away among users from reactively adding storage to a more considered approach.

"The Solutions Centre will demonstrate to customers how to intelligently manage their information through its entire lifecycle, from creation, protection, access, migration, archive and disposal.

"Businesses need to recognise the benefits of information lifecycle management and they need to act now to plan for efficient and flexible storage solutions," he said.

Graham Penn, director of storage research, Asia-Pacific, IDC, commented: "Increasingly, users across Australia and New Zealand are seeking solutions that integrate storage equipment from many vendors into a networked storage environment.  The EMC Solution Centre will enable EMC to work with its customers to ensure that the solution will meet each customer's particular requirement."
