Sigma Data Pictures in TRIM V3
Automated classification of images using geospatial metadata is making life easier for users of Sigma Data's Pictures in TRIM application.
The Australian software developer has completely redesigned the user interface in a newly released Version 3 of the application, designed to provide enhanced image management capability for the TRIM EDRMS.
Imagine you are a busy council ranger returning from the field with a camera full of images recording a property inspection or an incident inquiry. The last thing you want to do is spend precious time filling in metadata fields manually.
Sigma Data Pictures in TRIM removes this step by using the GPS data to automatically extract property information from council's existing business applications.
"Depending on where the council officer was standing when they took the photo, the GPS data will determine which property file is the subject of the photograph. This can then be used to classify the images as they are uploaded to Pictures in TRIM," said Lisa Read White, Managing Director of Sigma Data Solutions.
Barcoded property inspection sheets can also be used to classify sets of images in this example.
It can be used to import pictures from cameras, mobile phones and file directories, and once the images have been added they can be searched and viewed without opening TRIM.
Other import functions that are automated include thumbnailing of images, image manipulation and watermarking.
A 3D filmstrip view provides a way to simply navigate a large set of images.
Additional features include searching for pictures taken within a specific area (based on GPS co-ordinates) and the ability to perform multi-step image processing during import.
The application supports multiple image configurations, which are stored inside the TRIM dataset - allowing all users to share the same configuration settings.
A configuration wizard guides administrators through metadata extraction, watermark imprinting and compression definition.
