Alfresco adds integration with Notes, Drupal & Google Docs

Alfresco claims its new Alfresco Enterprise Edition 3.3 is the first CMIS-supported solution that integrates with IBM/Lotus, Microsoft Outlook, Google Docs and Drupal.

“Right now, we are facing a ‘perfect storm’ of issues and upheaval in the ECM industry – cloud computing and open source are a challenge for traditional ECM vendors, the CMIS standard will accelerate commoditisation, and user demographics are changing the way people want to work. CIOs are realizing old monolithic ECM suites are failing to solve today’s content management needs and are seeking alternative and flexible platforms to compliment their corporate architectures,” said John Newton, Alfresco co-founder and CTO.

“The latest iteration of Alfresco Enterprise extends the platform’s content services, enabling organizations to deploy composite content applications to support their business requirements.”

The integration between Alfresco and IBM Lotus Quickr, Connections and Notes provides a light-weight, deployable ECM for Lotus’ social collaboration products with certified Records Management functionality and Cloud Computing deployment features.

Alfresco Share collaboration sites can be created to support meetings from within Outlook, with a workspace to track meeting related content (minutes, reports etc.), data lists, discussion threads and project wikis.

The integration between Drupal and Alfresco provides CMIS content management services combined with Drupal’s social publishing platform, while Alfresco’ s integration with Google Docs provides users with full online editing capabilities, removing the need to use office applications, such as Microsoft Office to modify or update content.
